Americare offers a wide range of services to support our clients in their daily lives. Our services include activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living which provide personal care, care of the home environment, and community access. Our team can also assist with complex care tasks as authorized by the State of Louisiana. These may include tasks such as medication administration, catheter care, ostomy care, wound care, etc. Our caregivers must be trained to perform these complex care tasks, allowing our clients to receive specified complex care in the comfort of their own homes. We have a registered nurse on staff who assists in the development of client-specific plans of care, client-specific training for our caregivers, and annual delegations required for compliance with the State of Louisiana.
Whether our client needs light assistance, total assistance or any level in between, the following activities of daily living promote self-care and are necessary to maintain the well-being of our clients:
While we encourage independence to the best of our client’s ability, our caregivers can assist with IADLs to help our clients maintain their home environment, remain in their own homes, and access the community as needed. Our assistance includes, but is not limited to:
If the client is the only individual in the household, these tasks encompass the home environment as a whole. If there are other members in the household, our duties are limited to assistance in the areas utilized by the client only.
* Please note that transportation is limited strictly to the client and caregiver only. For liability purposes, our caregivers are not allowed to transport family, friends, or acquaintances of the client or the caregiver.
Americare is a non-skilled agency, however, our agency is allowed to delegate specific tasks under the supervision of our Registered Nurse (RN) on staff. These tasks include, but are not limited to:
The Americare RN will provide client-specific training for each delegable task before those tasks can be completed, and training is renewed annually.
Please note the RN role at Americare (a non-skilled agency) is different than an RN role at a skilled agency or facility. All skilled needs should be addressed with the client’s physician, home health agency, hospice agency, hospital, or other skilled agency/facility.
